First of all, Dragon Ball Z is a masterpiece! It is a series that completely changed the future of anime and its influence is remarkably tremendous.
I will keep everything spoiler-free, mentioning only the premise of each arc and eventually some new characters, so don't worry.
I will approach this review by discussing the pros and cons of each arc. While the first one is overall better due to its captivating story, the second one is packed with action and it surely appeals more to fans that care more about the fights (even more when we bring the most popular villain ever, Frieza, back to life). So, when I heard that Dragon Ball Super was going to be Akira Toriyama's next official series, I was incredibly excited! Two movies were released before the anime: Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F'. I love everything about it, from the awesome fight scenes to the storylines that always delivered the final punch.

I am a huge fan of Dragon Ball, I didn't exactly grow up while it was live, but the show kept being transmitted on TV for years without end.
Goku goes on action-packed adventures, finding new worlds, strong warriors and limit-breaking powers, which will unfold through five arcs. If you enjoy my Spoiler-Free reviews, please follow my blog :) Dragon Ball Super is the official (or canon, whatever you prefer) follow-up to Dragon Ball Z (yes, Dragon Ball GT does not "exist") and it continues right after the Majin Buu arc. The animation is good and just watching these great characters finally come back is very entertaining. Okay, they've mostly just taken on henchmen at this point, but still. I wonder how many more of these slumbering enemies there are about? This even works to try to fix the problem of the minor characters not catching up with Goku. You wouldn't think the series would be able to surpass itself but now we have a literal God who's over a dozen times stronger than Super Saiyan 3.

These two guys are so chock full of energy you simply can't help but be entertained by them. The best parts of this are easily Beerus and Whis. It has all the action of the old series with brand new stories and characters. Anyway, this spin off turned out to be nothing at all like we thought it would be but it's still an awesome show. As DBGT and Super Saiyan 4 aren't canon, we never will see them. Now that this show has come out, the next part is called Super Saiyan God so we're not going to see any of that either. Everybody was fantasizing about Super Saiyan 5 or 6, 7 etc.

I personally find the movie version to be better, but this is still freaking awesome. Now we have a TV show based on it as well as its sequel and brand new material for that matter. I remember watching "Dragonball Z: Battle Of Gods" in theaters and being blown away by how awesome it was. I just looked up and found out that that show is no longer considered canon, even though this one wasn't based on any manga. Is it better than "Dragonball GT"? Yes, much better. This is the actual fourth Dragonball series that we've been wanting to see for literally eighteen years. In reality, this show doesn't exist and now we know for a fact that it never will. When "Dragonball GT" ended in 1997, rumors went around everywhere about a fourth Dragonball series, usually going by the name "Dragonball AF".
